Engines Comments: Electric prop motor replaced 10hrs before accident.
Equipment Comments: Avionics: IFR Certified 12/2007, Garmin GNS 430 GPS/Comm, King KLX-135 GPS/Comm, Tru-Trak DFC 250 Autopilot, overhauled July 2009, PSE 6000M audio/ICS/Mkr panel, Narco Transponder, Rocky Mountain Instruments digital engine monitor.
Description of Accident: The subject aircraft was struck from behind by a Cessna 140 (tailwheel) aircraft while both aircraft were taxing.
Description of Damage: The subject aircraft’s tail and empennage were substantially damaged by the metal prop on the Cessna 140. The tail section is a honeycomb fiberglass construction. There was no other damage to the aircraft as a result of this incident. Aircraft is located at the Louisa Count Field Airport (KLKU), VA.
LogBooks Comment: The aircraft has prior damage history due to a gear up landing. The fiberglass belly skin and the prop were replaced. The engine underwent a prop-strike inspection.
Remarks: Inspection of salvage is highly recommended.
